George

“We went as a private group of 7 on their waterfall and rainforest hike and it was well worth it. From the moment George our guide picked us up from the Kahului park and ride, he was a nonstop source of local information and made the hike so much more enjoyable, pointing out all the different plants and their origins. Kept a good pace, but perfect multi-generational activity. 4 teen boys (and one adventurous adult) loved the cliff jumping into the waterfall pools!”

BIO:

Born the middle child of seven in Saratoga Springs, New York, George “paid his dues” in the Minnesota winters where he grew up dreaming of the tropics. So when he came to Maui to visit a friend in 2009, he skipped his flight home—and stayed. Sixteen years later, he’s still here, living the island dream.

For the past eleven years, George has been a rockstar guide with Hike Maui and now also leads the charge as our digital marketing manager. If you’ve seen one of our trail videos or swapped emojis with us on social, that was probably George doing his thing.

Off the trail, George is all about adventure and family life with his beautiful wife and daughter. He’s into surfing, free diving, trail running, and yep—he runs full marathons for fun. On weekends, you might find them at the beach, at church, or enjoying an “upcountry day” with their extended ohana who followed them to paradise.

Unflappable and full of aloha, George sees every hike as a new story waiting to unfold, no two days alike. Just follow the guy with the camera, the big smile, and the “Ahoy!”—you’re in for an unforgettable day.
