Makes you want to say “HaleakalAH!” If you’ve always wanted to explore mighty Haleakalā–East Maui’s gigantic dormant volcano–but have never experienced its top-of-the-world views and profoundly still atmosphere, there are a few things to know about this beloved hiking and sightseeing location.   Today the pros at Hike Maui will share with you a few […]

Guide Nicholas has his first baby boy! He is hysterically happy that all went well for Mom Catherine and Baby Jackson Nicholas. Born March 27, 2012. He’s ready to get him out hiking already.

Pali’s classmates Dawn, Dustin, Eddie, Glori, Robynne & teacher mj stopped by Pali’s homestead in Kipahulu when they were training for the full-day Hana hike at ‘Ohe’o Gulch. Pali grew up right next door to these big waterfalls in a jungle home and we all wanted to meet her parents, Pat & Pat. Her dad, […]

Guide Glori & Mom Chris Glori & Chris joined rappelling manager Dave & owner mj on a whale kayak trip. We paddled out early in the a.m. off Olowalu and saw plenty of humpbacks. We paddled quite far out. Then we went across the street and had pie and coffee at our friend Michael Moore’s […]

Here’s fabulous Dustin, a new Hawaiian guide born and raised on Maui, who had somehow never spent time in Haleakala Crater. So, for his first serious trip, he decided to go up Kaupo Gap! Yikes. That’s 19 miles up, up, up all day long. Guides Kahi, UlaUla and i all went up the gap a […]

Guides Dylan, Erik and Jeremy are continuing their exploration of the Crater. They recently did the 12-mile hike from the Summit at 10,000 feet across the crater floor and then out the 8,500-foot level on the Halemau’u Trail. Now they’ve just completed the Kaupo Gap — a 17-mile trek that started at 5 am in […]

Happy hiking through the holidaze. “A DAY AT THE OFFICE”  HIKE MAUI STYLE   Many thanks to Guide Kate for her spirited modeling. She is hilarious, even while wet and soggy. No Photoshop – she is standing under that 40-foot falls. “PAU HANA” ( means “off work” or “TGIF”)

Our guide Erik had a free day at home, so he tinkered with a fancy movie program, uploading his photos and movie clips. Now Erik & mj think they’ll partner on making movies, so keep watching for more scenes of magical Maui.

Erik was guiding a family of five on our Hana Full-day Watersfalls & Rainforest Hike. On their way down from the 400-foot falls, they found a couple in trouble. Sandy Gavin had fallen, dislocating her ankle and breaking her leg in two places. Her husband Pat was struggling with the injury, so good Samaritan Erik […]

Akiko & Harry had a very private, outdoor, ocean-side wedding this November with only their small children, Maile and Major, attending. They’ve all been together for years, so this made their union official. The ceremony took place near Hana on Wai’anapanapa’s famous black sand beach.
