Kevin has loved hiking for as long as he can remember. “I was hiking with my parents before I learned to walk—strapped into a baby carrier,” he jokes. He credits his lifelong passion for the outdoors to his mom, an avid hiker, and his dad, a rafting guide and ski patroller in South Lake Tahoe.
As a teenager, Kevin followed in his father’s footsteps and spent his summers working as a rafting guide. It quickly became evident that he had a knack for building relationships with guests while ensuring their safety. After earning a degree in environmental science from UC Santa Cruz, Kevin moved to Maui to work as a marine naturalist. In 2015, he caught the travel bug and spent three years adventuring through Australia and South America before realizing he missed Maui. “Now I’m here to stay,” he says.
As a hiking guide, Kevin’s life has come full circle. Every day brings something new, but he says there’s one constant: “The looks of awe on my guests’ faces—I’ll never get tired of seeing that.”
