ABOUT JACQUELINE

Born in San Francisco, Jacqueline spent much of her childhood visiting Hawai’i. “Growing up, I was always going back and forth between O’ahu and San Francisco, and I spent every summer back then on O’ahu.” In 2010, Jacqueline moved to the Big Island, and then to Maui a few years ago. Her true passion is the outdoors, and she can often be found camping, backpacking, snorkeling, hiking, surfing, or honing her nature photography skills. She also creates wire-wrapped jewelry and other art.

At Hike Maui, Jacqueline delights in getting to know her guests and helping them push past perceived limitations. “I enjoy bringing people out in nature and getting them into the water. Almost all of them are outside their comfort zone, so I just give them a little push to explore beyond walking on sidewalks.”

Jacqueline is especially passionate about plants—she majored in botany as well as Hawaiian studies at University of Hawaii at Hilo—and she particularly enjoys sharing their cultural uses. “I really love hala (pandanus) trees. I like to pull up the roots and show my guests how to weave them.”

Guest quote: Our guide Jacqueline was just fabulous! From the time we got on the van until the time we got off, she was so full of knowledge. It was not only extremely fun, but also educational.
