David is no stranger to adventure. The Texas native once traveled the world as a U.S. Navy aerial photographer, snapping shots aboard military helicopters and on the decks of aircraft carriers. After retiring from the Navy, David, an avid surfer, headed to San Diego, where he would paddle out before sunrise and teach scuba lessons during the day.
After maxing out on California’s big waves, David moved to Maui to ride even bigger ones. Since then, he’s taught residents and visitors alike how to surf, scuba dive, sail and rappel. “I’ve worn a lot of hats,” he laughs. In 2017, David added hiking to his repertoire, and says it’s the hat that fits him best.
A natural-born entertainer and storyteller, David goes above and beyond to ensure his guests have a good time—and routinely lends his photography expertise to capture all the fun. “That’s what this job is about: creating memories that will last a lifetime,” he says.
Guest Quote: Our tour guide David was awesome! Not only did he take us on a fun hike, he taught us so much about the history of Maui. He made the trip so much more fun that it would be been if we’d been on our own.
