Our troop of rain forest hikers were from the Modern Woodmen of America conference in April. Several groups went with different guides. We all agreed that our day was FANTASTIC! However, we had fighting words over whose guide was the best. (Ours was: Akiko!) That means that they are all the most outstanding guides in the business. Akiko taught us about Hawaiian history, biology, climate, geography, and even language. Thank you so much for a memorable day! For me, as a biologist, I loved seeing and learning about the unique flora and fauna and natural history of the island. Did anyone get a good picture of that shovel-headed worm?
Here’s a great photo of Akiko and her daughter Maile. She also has a baby boy named Major.
