Seven new guides just graduated as Hawaiian naturalists.

Bottom left: Dawn, Eddie, Pali, Robynne & dog Ulu

Middle: Glori

Top: Hanalei & Dustin

Five of the seven were born on Maui, four are Hawaiian, one grew up in the jungle near Hana, one is a part-time windsurfing instructor. They were all great students, so eager to learn and so easy to work with. We can’t wait to get them out on the trails.

We started training on Oct. 19th and had our last class Dec. 13th. Though most already had a good base of knowledge, we still teach botany, ethnobotany, geology, Hawaiian history and culture, plus First Aid and CPR.
